During 2009-2010 the Department of Environment Affairs worked with a research and development team from Rhodes University, led by Prof Heila Lotz-Sisitka (pictured) to produce an Environmental Sector Skills Plan.
Environmental Sector Skills Plan for South Africa
Produced in May 2010, this Summary Document is based on a more comprehensive source document, informed by extensive stakeholder engagement and the most comprehensive analysis of the environmental sector to date. It provides a list of scarce skills in the sector, as well as guidelines for environmental sector skills planning across all sectors. The Biodiversity HCD Strategy has been developed in close alignment with its approach and recommendations.
