The aim of this project was to scan the bursary funding landscape relevant to the biodiversity and conservation knowledge areas. It is anticipated that the findings will:
• Assist with the identification of bursary gaps
• Facilitate the identification of potential partners which the BHCD Programme could approach  for possible co-ordination and joint ventures

• Assessing the internship landscape

This survey was undertaken to inform the Biodiversity Human Capital Development Programme. During the stakeholder engagement and research to inform the BHCD Strategy, internships emerged as an important element in a systemic strategy to grow the sector’s skills base towards greater transformation and performance, as they provide a bridge between the workplace and studies. A number of organisations are already funding or offering internships. It was thus important to take the earlier research a step further and determine exactly how and where the BHCD Programme should make its contribution.
