South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) SANBI leads and carries out a range of research, planning, mapping and management model development programmes for biodiversity - both flora and fauna, and at species and ecosystem levels, including monitoring and communicating on the impact of climate change on biodiversity. SANBI is also mandated to provide information and knowledge, monitor and report on the state of biodiversity of South Africa. SANBI is the proud custodian of the National Botanical Gardens system and the lead agent in the development of the Human Capital Development Strategy for the Biodiversity Sector.
